Ballast: Capacity Planner

Terms of Use

Last updated 2 November 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Michael Fuglsang ("I", "me", "Ballast") covering your use of the Ballast app. By creating an account or starting a subscription you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Subscription

Ballast Monthly is an auto-renewing subscription.

A subscription is required to use Ballast after you sign in. Billing, refunds and cancellations are handled by Apple, and refund requests go through reportaproblem.apple.com. I cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases myself.

Use Restore Purchases on the subscription screen if you reinstall the app or sign in on a new device.

Your account

You sign in with your email address. You are responsible for keeping your email account secure and for what happens under your Ballast account. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account.

Your content

The tasks, notes, journal entries and other content you put into Ballast are yours. You give me permission to store and process them only as needed to run the app for you, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

Please do not misuse the app. That includes trying to break or probe it, reverse engineering it, accessing another person's account or data, overloading the service, or using it to break the law or harm others. I may suspend an account that does.

Not professional advice

Ballast is a personal planning tool. Its suggestions, including pattern notes and the "capacity" approach, are not medical, psychological or other professional advice. It is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. Please do not rely on reminders for anything safety critical, because notifications can be delayed or turned off by your device.

Availability and changes

I aim to keep Ballast running reliably, but I do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. I may change, add or remove features, and I may change pricing for future billing periods. Apple will notify you of any price change as required and, where needed, ask for your consent before you are charged.

Disclaimer and limit of liability

Ballast is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, or lost profits arising from your use of the app, and my total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Ballast in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.

Apple

These terms are between you and me, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for Ballast and is not responsible for any claims relating to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Your use of the app is also subject to Apple's Standard End User License Agreement, which applies where these terms do not say otherwise.

Ending these terms

You can stop using Ballast at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting your account. I may end or suspend access if you break these terms.

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use Ballast after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Tasmania, Australia, without regard to conflict of law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer protections where you live.
